Chemonics seeks a Destination Marketing Specialist – Trade and Consumer for the ongoing USAID project: Jordan Tourism Board Activity (JTBA). The project aims to improve Jordan’s tourism sector, primarily through supporting the Jordan Tourism Board’s (JTB’s) efforts to strategically position and promote Jordan as a distinctive destination. The Destination and Marketing Specialist – Trade and Consumer supports the Deputy Chief of Party/Team Lead — Destination Marketing and Promotion in technical activity implementation as well as work planning related to Objectives 1: Marketing Strategy Development; 2: Data Management Platform Development; 3: Digital Marketing Activities; 4: Business-to-Business Marketing Activities. Specifically, the Destination Marketing Specialist – Trade and Consumer will be the Component’s technical Point of Contact to oversee the successful implementation of JTB-facing activities under Objectives 3 and 4. The Destination Marketing Specialist – Trade and Consumer also supports Deputy Chief of Party/Team Lead — Destination Marketing and Promotion in activities related to Objectives 1 and 2s

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist the Deputy Chief of Party/Team Lead — Destination Marketing and Promotion in the management of the various technical activities under Objectives 1 – 4;
  • Serve as JTB’s main technical liaison and Point of Contact on the activity team related to Destination Marketing and promotion;
  • Lead the successful implementation of activities 3.1 – 3.3, and 4.1 – 4.4, and supports the successful implementation of other activities under Objectives 1 and 2, as needed;
  • Support the successful implementation of activities under Objectives 5 – 7, as needed;
  • Apply in-depth technical expertise, ensuring an integrated vision among objectives and focus on achieving results;
  • Ensure that activities are results-oriented, that deliverables are high quality, and that reporting is relevant and timely;
  • Focus on achieving results in all areas on schedule and ensuring synergies and cohesion between activities;
  • Participate and engage in technical meetings and maintain positive relationships with relevant government officials, partners, and implementing partners;
  • Support the COP in building relationships with Government of Jordan, and other project stakeholders and counterparts in the public and private sectors;
  • Actively take a role in developing and implementing annual work plans, reflecting the needs and priorities of USAID and local stakeholders;
  • Practice effective coordination with crosscutting technical resources to ensure timely and quality activities implementation.

Qualifications:

The minimum qualifications for the position are:

  • At least fifteen years of progressively responsible work experience in Jordan’s tourism sector and other similar destinations;
  • At least ten years of experience in destination marketing across trade and consumer channels
  • Proven experience in digital and social media marketing and promotion
  • Proven experience in airlines and aviation industry;
  • Experience in working with key stakeholders within the tourism sector, including MoTA, and JTB;
  • Strong writing and oral presentation skills in both English and Arabic;
  • Excellent communication, presentation, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.

Supervision and Reporting

The Destination Marketing Specialist – Trade and Consumer reports to and is supervised directly by the Deputy Chief of Party/Team Lead — Destination Marketing and Promotion. The Destination Marketing Specialist – Trade and Consumer will directly supervise long and short-term specialists supporting Objectives 3 and 4.
