Main Purpose of Job:
To work with the Embassy Security Team to protect staff, visitors and the FCDO estate from various threats, including but not limited to; Fire, Theft and a myriad of security issues and incidents.
What will the Jobholder be Expected to Achieve:
The Supervisor reports direct to the Post Security Manager and is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of all guards, ensuring that they comply with the content of Security Management Procedure (SMP) 010 and any other reasonable requests, doing so in a responsible and professional manner – for further details see “Job Description Security Supervisor”. In summary the Supervisor is responsible for:
- Checking the occurrence book daily
- Communication with all guards via radio, ensuring that they are in place and conducting their duties
- They must be fully conversant with and able to operate the CCTV system. This includes oversight of the FCDO estate maintaining a regular review of all areas, both inside and outside and all sides of the building. Keep a particular look out for persons loitering near the building, strange packages being left close to the building and for unfamiliar vehicles being parked in unusual places
- The start of each shift Security Supervisor should ensure that our staff confirm that:
– a full and recorded handover has taken place
– all guarding positions are manned
– all positions conduct a radio check, including vehicles
– all Occurrence Books are up to date
– all equipment is checked and is in working order
– at night all security lights are operational
– all staff are properly attired - The inventory of equipment has been checked and any damage or missing items recorded and reported to the PSM
- Handling minor incidents and discipline issues within the guard force
- Overseeing continuity training of all the Security Guards, in liaison with PSM
- Monitoring the UKB officer/ office vehicle’s movement through Track24 Grid Map as required, monitor the daily security incidents via social media platforms / Vanguard system, updating the Yangon live map accordingly with ATALIAN report and other reliable source’s news
- Consolidate daily all ATALIAN reporting on the appropriate spreadsheets
- Brief the PSM on a daily basis on the events of the previous 24 hours
Resources Managed (staff and expenditure): Support the Post Security Manager (PSM) in gathering security item and clothing details for the procurement process.

- Minimum 5-years’ experience in management or supervisory skills in either security or in customer services role
- Computer, email, internet, and other technical skills are essential

The British Embassy Yangon offers a competitive remuneration package, including salary, benefits, leave entitlement of 22 days per annum (calculated in pro rata).
Not suitable for flexible working, this is a set pattern over a 48-hour week, modified for shift working pattern.
Employment offers are subject to successful clearance of pre-employment and security checks. Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy Yangon is subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local employment law.
No accommodation or relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position. All candidates must be legally able to work and reside in the country of the vacancy with the correct visa/work permit status or demonstrate eligibility to obtain the relevant permit. Any costs related to obtaining or renewing permits and visas are the responsibility of the successful applicant.
Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary may have their salaries reduced by the equivalent local income tax amount.
