Field of activity

The “Sustainable Economic Policy” sector project advises and supports the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in the implementation of a socio-ecological economic transformation in the partner countries of German development cooperation. We contribute to the further development of the focus on sustainable economic development (NaWi) through technical, methodological and conceptual work. In this way, we contribute to the implementation of the BMZ’s political priorities, particularly in feminist development policy and Just Transition. The main focus is on ecologically sustainable and socially just economic policy and development.

In October 2024, the BMZ and its partners will host the first Hamburg Sustainability Conference (HSC). To this end, the sector project supports the preparation and implementation of a work stream on the topic of “Economic Models of the Future”. In several dialogue formats with experts from science, politics and business, the decisive approaches for a social-ecological economic transformation will be discussed and then prepared.
