This is to announce that the ICRC delegation in Amman has a vacancy at the Unit for Relations with the Armed and Security Forces.

 In coordination with the FAS Regional Coordinator and under the supervision of the Protection Coordinator, the Armed Forces and Security (FAS) Programme Adviser is responsible for the planning and implementation of objectives and activities aimed at the promotion and integration of IHL & IHRL by Jordan Armed Forces (JAF). S/he maintains contact with authorities, mainly JAF but not only, at various levels, and participates in meetings with different contacts, in a leading or supporting role.

 We are looking for a candidate with:

Required Qualifications and Skills:

Ÿ  Legal studies (university degree) and/or War College graduate will be considered as a strong asset.

Ÿ  Good knowledge of IHL, IHRL, and domestic law is an asset.

Ÿ  Fluent in both Arabic and English languages. Excellent communication skills (written and oral).

Ÿ  Good analytical skills with creative thinking.

Ÿ  Good planning and prioritization skills.

Ÿ  Flexibility and capacity to adapt to a changing work context.

Ÿ  Flexible, diplomatic, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Ÿ  Computer proficiency.

Minimum required Knowledge and experience

Must have a military background, in addition to the following:

·       3–5 years’ experience, in either planning military operations, legal (IHL/IHRL), peacekeeping/ multinational operations, or civil-military cooperation.

·       Experience in military operations will be considered a strong asset.
