Role purpose

This role is responsible for the project management and the delivery of major and minor works that support the Communities, Housing and Corporate Office portfolios. These Uniting services operate throughout NSW and the ACT, therefore some travel is required.

If you are ready to roll up your sleeves and dive into a hands-on role as a Project manager, Commercial and Housing this could be the role you are looking for. You’ll lead our major and minor works projects across our diverse portfolios in Communities, Housing, and Corporate Office. 

Reporting to the Commercial Asset Manager, the Project Manager – Commercial & Housing shall be responsible for the engagement of relevant external third-party consultants (including but not limited to interior design, architecture, services engineering, PCAs and building code consultants as appropriate). The size of projects to be managed directly shall nominally be to a maximum value of $500k however this will depend on project complexity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to scope project requirements.
  • Review quotations to ensure optimal value.
  • Ensure project compliance and manage delivery from inception to completion.
  • Engage external consultants as needed.
  • Maintain communication with stakeholders and manage budgets and timelines effectively.
  • Oversee project documentation and closeouts.
  • Attend handover inspections at the achievement of practical completion of the works.
  • Serve as the main contact for internal service recipients.
  • Facilitate communication between external stakeholders and the organisation.
  • Demonstrate adaptability in changing environments.
  • Ensure timely project completion and adherence to safety standards.
  • Manage relationships with internal stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Relevant qualifications in construction, engineering, or project management
  • 5+ years of experience in project management.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project software.
  • Experience in commercial refurbishment projects and contractor management.
  • Conflict resolution skills and program development expertise.
  • Demonstrated leadership and commitment to excellence.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of organisational objectives.
  • Ability to make sound decisions and persevere in the face of challenges.
  • Timely and efficient work habits.

Even better

  • Previous experience in roll-out project delivery roles.
  • Familiarity with minor capital works projects in live environments.
  • Understanding of financial management systems.
