The Data and Analytics function supports UNHCR fundraising activities and works primarily with the Google stack of tools: Analytics 360, Tag manager 360, Search Console, BigQuery for data storage, management and ad hoc analytics, and the integration between the analytics tools and digital ad platforms including Google Ads, Google Marketing Platform, Facebook and more.
The contractor will work with key stakeholders at UNHCRs HQ and in the regional offices to advise, develop and implement best practice digital analytics across our international web presence.
Under the overall supervision of the PSP Senior Digital Strategy and Planning Officer, the individual contractor will assist in the following:
- Create and coordinate implementation of global standardized data convention for web and app measurement with our own custom built platform. Working with global network of colleagues across fundraising, advocacy and other programs.
- Make our app and web measurement data more accessible by creating dashboards and reports in Google Analytics and other tools. This will make it available to teams such as digital fundraisers working with donor acquisition and retention, website owners, content editors and management.
- Work closely with teams to bring value from data and help them create corresponding actions from data and insights.
- Help promoting a data-first based strategy and how to identify business opportunities from analyzing data
- Be an advocate for the generally available dashboards in MS Power BI and work closely with the team that create and manage these dashboards.
- Act as global focal point for digital analytics and work with regional and local UNHCR offices internal and external experts on measurement reports.
- Support global network with outreach, knowledge management and training on digital data analytics.
- Translate fundraising teams and other internal stakeholder questions into KPIs and metrics that can be measured from user interactions with web and mobile app properties.
- Guide and monitor digital campaign colleagues’ usage of UNHCRs digital marketing naming conventions for product codes and tracked URLs (UTM code application).
- Develop, implement and maintain naming conventions within Google Analytics 360 (Universal Analytics and GA4) and Google Tag Manager
- Keeping the team and UNHCRs global GA userbase updated with GA4 feature changes and other significant changes in relevant website, app and digital ads tracking technology.
- Support Data Quality Officer to identify and respond to systematic data discrepancies and implementation issues.
- Maintain oversight on external trends potentially impacting web/app measurement and, together with the Global Analytics and Measurement Officer, make sure that these trends are incorporated into UNHCRs measurement setup.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
- University degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Business Administration or Marketing, or a related field – data analysis and digital marketing qualifications preferred.
- Google Analytics Certification for GA4 is preferred, but not a must.
- Looker Studio (Google Data Studio) completed training course is preferred, but not a must.
Work Experience:
- 3 years relevant experience with bachelor’s degree; or 2 years with master’s or equivalent or higher degree
- Work experience with Google Analytics is required.
- Experience with Looker Studio (Google Data Studio) is preferred.
- Experience with Google Cloud BigQuery is preferred
- Experience with SQL is desired
- Experience with Google Search Console is desired
- Familiarity with general website structures (HTML, CSS) is preferrable.
