The Environmental & Sustainability Lead will work collaboratively with all areas of the
business to develop, coordinate, and promote new and effective sustainability initiatives.
The primary focus of this role will be to assist the management teams to collect, analyse and
report data relating to their environment impact and to support in reducing the organisation’s
carbon footprint.
The E&S Lead will also support the Head of Business Compliance in the delivery of
sustainability projects and activities. This will involve some travel across our sites
nationwide.
Key responsibilities
- Support the Head of Business Compliance in the development, management, and adherence to
the CCS Environmental & Sustainability strategy. - Collect and analyse data to measure carbon emissions across all departments, using up to
date conversion factors and industry best practice. - Measure and report against monthly carbon reduction targets.
- Co-ordinate and undertake environmental audits to ascertain the level of compliance across
the organisation. - Implement plans and programs to mitigate environmental impacts/risks, to include pollution
control, waste management, recycling and resource management. - Research & implement sustainability improvement projects and activities to support the
organisation in meeting its Environmental & Sustainability objectives. - Advise all teams on environmental best practices and compliance with legal
requirements/standards. - Drive positive change across all business practices to minimise our environmental footprint
and maximise sustainability efforts.
What you’ll need to succeed
Essential
- Knowledge of UK and EU environmental legislation and guidelines
- Ability to gather, analyse, and interpret complex environmental data to make informed
decisions. - Strong written communication skills to produce reports and documentation for compliance and
monitoring purposes. - Basics of managing projects, including planning, executing, monitoring, and closing
projects. - Effective interpersonal and communication skills for dealing with colleagues and regulatory
bodies. - Open and quick to learn new processes and adapt to changing environments/regulations.
- Passionate about creating a sustainable future
Desirable (not essential)
- A degree in environmental science, environmental management, sustainability, biology,
chemistry, or a related field. - Experience developing, maintaining, and/or managing sustainability-based initiatives,
processes, or programs involving the collection, analysis, and reporting of data - Experience of Environmental management systems
- Experience of auditing (preferably ISO 14001)
