World Vision – Iraq Office is looking for a highly qualified and motivated person for the position of Protection Assistant – Ninewa/Hamdaniyah.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The proposed project seeks to Empower Female & Youth through Gender Equality and Social Inclusion, encompassing protection, advocacy, and economic empowerment.

The role of this position is to assist in the implementation of SGBV activities in Hamdaniya. Including case management, and awareness raising on SGBV, training community mobilizers, youth and women groups on identifying and preventing SGBV and protection cases.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Case Management
  • Identify the SGBV cases in these areas and keep good record with confidentiality
  • facilitate a case management discussion with community mobilizers, parents and families when necessary
  • Asses the referred SGBV cases
  • Get consent of the cases or their guardians
  • Provide the required services for the identified cases, PSS, dignity kits, etc.
  • Follow up with cases, conduct mid plan review to include required services, check the progress, and conduct final review for the cases.
  • Create networking with service providers to enhance referral to specialized services
  • Refer the cases when children, women and their families require specialized services.

 

  1. Provide awareness on SGBV
  • In coordination with Protection Officer create awareness raising modules on SGBV and protection for youth, women, teachers, and community leaders
  • Provide training to community mobilizers on raising awareness on SGBV
  • Conduct campaigns for raising community awareness on SGBV such as 16 days of activism
  • Liaise externally to facilitate training, sessions, events, bookings and arranging event needs.

 

  1. Strengthening the community engagement and networks
  • Organize monthly meetings with committees to receive feedback, updates, suggestion, challenge and achievements.
  • Together with the Protection Officer, plan outreach activities to ensure they are in line with project outcomes.
  • Capacity build committees to ensure quality rapport with committee and maintaining trust.

 

  1. Meet internal and external reporting requirements
  • Submit weekly, monthly, annual activity report to project officer and project Manager
  • Support project coordinator to submit required donor report
  • Maintain accurate record of all activities for reporting.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Good interpersonal skills and cross-cultural sensitivity.
  • Ability to work in difficult and high risk situations.
  • Ability to cope and work under pressure.
  • Well-organized, self-motivated and ability to work in a team.
  • Familiar with Humanitarian Principles and standards.
  • Familiar with sector minimum standards and guidelines such as Minimum Standards for CP in Humanitarian Actions, Inter-Agency guideline on MHPSS in humanitarian settings).
  • Adherence to Do No Harm, Safeguarding, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies
  • At least Bachelor’s /Diploma degree on social science (social work, psychology, sociology, education or other relevant field.)
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience with women, girls and vulnerable groups
  • Computer literate mainly in Microsoft Office package.
  • Work experience with humanitarian agencies.
  • Management experience (especially managing the diverse team of staff/ volunteers).

 

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in Local language.
  • Working knowledge of English and ability to write reports in English.

 

Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement:

  • Up to 60 Per Cent domestic travel.
