The British Embassy in Chisinau is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit a Project Officer.

Roles and responsibilities:
This will be a key position within the Programmes Team in the British Embassy. The Team covers Good Governance Fund (GGF) and Integrated Security Fund (ISF) work in Moldova. This role will focus on GGF; there is another Project Officer whose focus is on ISF work. You will be line managed by the Head of Programmes based in Moldova. You will work closely with advisory teams in London, and programme management hub in Tbilisi, Georgia. This fixed-term appointment comes at an exciting period for the GGF, which has been operational in Moldova since late 2015. In this role you will cover the design, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of new and existing projects. Programme funding allocation for financial year 24/25 is £4 million. The successful candidate will be expected to: 1. Lead on liaison with project implementers to ensure that project activity are delivered on time, within budget and provide advice to project implementers on financial and reporting requirements. 2. Work with the Programme Responsible Owner and advisers in London to ensure high-quality project monitoring and evaluation, including working with log frames and results frameworks. 3. Work with the Hub in Tbilisi and the Chisinau-based Head of Programmes to ensure risks are being identified, mitigated and managed across the programme, and escalated when necessary. 4. Draft project event communications for use on social media and review press releases produced by implementing partners. Provide regular project success stories for internal communications working closely with our Communications and Media Manager. Support on event coordination and preparing draft-speaking notes for the Embassy Senior Leadership Team. 5. Draft quarterly narrative reports and produce regular governance and economic project updates for Senior Leadership Team and London colleagues. 6. Attend and contribute to monthly programme and project meetings with implementing partners and colleagues in London, providing political and contextual updates on the situation in Moldova. Assess how these developments could influence project delivery. Work with the Head of Programmes and Advisors to develop new interventions that support UK government policy in Moldova. 7. Assist the Head of Programmes with programme management duties as required, and provide resilience to the programme team and wider embassy as and when needed. 8. Contribute to the embassy’s wider corporate management requirements, for example, by participating in committees, consular work, L&D, UK scholarship or recruitment work. |

This is a full-time, fixed-term maternity cover contract until 30th June 2025. The Embassy’s pay and benefits package is in compliance with local labour law. The gross monthly salary for this position is MDL 38,683.
The annual leave entitlement is 24 working days per calendar year and the Embassy also enjoys 14 Moldovan/UK public holidays per year.
The successful candidate will be subject to a reference check, security clearance and satisfactory completion of a probationary period of three months.
Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) have a strong Learning and Development (L&D) culture supporting a 70:20:10 learning posture (70% on-the-job informal learning, 20% informal learning from others, 10% formal learning).
The successful Job Holder will receive an induction plan with a suite of mandatory e-learning courses and have access to job-related training, enabling the successful Job Holder to become comfortable and effective in the role as quickly as possible.
