Job Purpose
Under the supervision of the group scientist, this position will provide engineering and electrical technical support that will contribute to the provision and maintenance of research facilities and specialist instrumentation within the C4 Rice Centre. Our mission is to design, build and make available advanced research tools that assist IRRI’s scientist study and probe plant function. Our vision is to make IRRI a world leader in plant phenomics, offering service-based solutions to scientists who require high-resolution, high-throughput physiology measurements.

This position will be recruited to assist the IRRI team to develop the Apps applied in agricultural extension such as E-extension.
This position will be based at the IRRI Office in Can Tho Vietnam, and may only be filled by permanent citizens of Vietnam.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to the team in developing water-level sensor with the real time data embedded in the existing App (E-extension) of IRRI
- Assisting the team in developing agricultural e-extension and easy-harvest
- Perform specific procedures related to service and maintenance to ensure its compliance to institution standards for safe working practices
- Inform the immediate supervisor on the condition of outputs to ensure continuity and quality of service
- Effectively communicate with immediate supervisors and project partners, e.g. Can Tho DARD, farmers, extension workers in MRD of Vietnam
- Support the team members to conduct the related experiments, field trials, and demonstrations
- Deliver timely reports to relevant IRRI staff
- Prepare and assure quality of research/ technical reports and data
- Track, log and be responsible for the location and operation within the institute
- Responsible for data management to guarantee quality data, data backup and data integrity
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years college education in Mechanization/Electrical and Electronic Technology/ IT with minimum 1-3 years relevant work experience
Skills Required
Mandatory
- Has experience in Remote sensing or App development, minimum 1 year
Preferred
- Has experience in IT and tool/ App developments applied in agriculture
