II. Background and Organizational Context |
The Secretary-General’s Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) is the United Nations’ leading instrument to invest in prevention and peacebuilding, in partnership with the wider UN system, national and subnational authorities, civil society organizations, regional organizations and multilateral banks. The Fund supports joint UN responses to address critical peacebuilding opportunities, connecting development, humanitarian, human rights, and peacebuilding pillars.
Guinea-Bissau has been one of the six countries on the agenda of the Peacebuilding Commission since 2007. The Commission plays an active role in accompanying the evolution of the situation in Guinea-Bissau (GNB), mobilizing the member states around the peace agenda for the country. As one of six countries on the agenda of the Peacebuilding Commission (PBC), GNB is entitled to support from the Peacebuilding Fund (PBF).
The PBF Secretariat is placed at the UN Resident Coordinator Office and is responsible for ensuring coordination, coherence, and synergy among PBF funded projects in Guinea-Bissau, and serves as a liaison among the UN entities and international partners involved in peacebuilding in the Country. The PBF Secretariat provides implementation oversight and technical advice, as well as M&E and communications support. The current PBF portfolio includes 8 projects involving UN organizations and one international CSO. New projects are being designed to support the country in its peacebuilding journey further and echo the evolutive needs and priorities in a range of areas, including – but not limited to – political dialogue, social cohesion, and inclusivity.
In this regard, the PBF Secretariat in Guinea-Bissau is looking for a Knowledge Management and communication Analystto strengthen evidence-based design of new PBF initiatives as well as to adapt PBF’s global communication strategy to a local context which requires enhanced visibility and understanding of PBF support in the country.

III. Position overall Purpose |
Under the guidance and direct supervision of the PBF Secretariat Coordinator, the Knowledge Management and Communication Analystwill establish and sustain high-quality and collaborative research, analysis, and data management systems, as well as design and implement a strategic communications – including the production of high-quality advocacy and communication materials, and innovative use of relevantly targeted communication channels (internal and external). In such framework, the Knowledge Management and Communication Analystwill work collaboratively with the Recipient UN Organizations (RUNO) and the PBF project teams to support evidence-based programming, better promote PBF visibility and further mobilize support for sustaining peace.

IV. Key Duties and Accountabilities | |
1.) Update the peacebuilding portfolio’s communications strategy and plan, and support their implementation and monitoring/evaluation. | |

2.) Ensure the production and dissemination of knowledge on the achievements and lessons learned through the development and publication of high-quality communication products. |
|
|
|
3.) Manage and strengthen relationships with content providers (videographers, photographers, printers, etc.) and ensure the production of quality deliverables. | |
|
|
4.) Participate in the United Nations Communications Group on behalf of the Secretariat, contributing to the implementation of the UNCG Annual Work Plan (publications, various events, press trips, etc.). | |
|
|
5.) Support the Peacebuilding Fund portfolio in its day-to-day project monitoring and communication tasks. | |
|
|
The incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the PBF secretariat and Resident coordination office (RCO). |
