To make a difference, the incumbent shall be responsible for following key strategic functions, accountabilities and related duties/ tasks;
Data analysis, Data visualization and advocacy
- Support the analysis of data on the situation of children, including in humanitarian situations, and the transformation
- into insight to inform management and programme teams in field offices for evidence-based policy advocacy, policy advice and programmatic action.
- Provide support to the development of visualisation products including maps, dashboards, infographic as well as financial/resource analyses that present information in a way that is easily understood by decision makers.
Innovation and frontier data
- Lead on the data science work including development of and utilization of data frameworks and tools to make use of big data sources. These sources include mobile phone data, remote sensing data, social media data, etc.
- Provide technical assistance to provincial partners in the country in the areas related to data science.
Data responsiveness to emergencies
- Provide technical assistance to strengthen provincial statistical and data systems that have “flex”, including baseline investments needed to strengthen responsiveness to emergencies
- Responsible to strengthen information management functions within Field Country Offices for data sharing, adherence to standards, coherence, and relevance
- Build GIS and mapping capacities in the field office.
Capacity building
- Plan and organize data analysis capacity-building activities to enhance data analysis skills within field office
- Promote evidence-based decision-making by organizing tailored training for the field offices colleagues, government and Implementing partners
Knowledge management
- Share lessons learned from data analysis and research and identify and promote best practices in data analytics.
- Conduct research on emerging trends and methodologies in data analytics
- Contribute to knowledge management initiatives within UNICEF Pakistan
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
Education:
- A university degree (Bachelor’s) in statistics, data science, demography, or in a related field that includes strong quantitative training and experience.
Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience at the national/international levels in data analysis, data science, data harnessing, measurement, methodological development, and other areas of applied statistics, data interpretation, and use in sectors of concern to UNICEF.
- Working experience in humanitarian settings is an asset.
- Experience in data visualization tools is required.
- Proven skills in using GIS and map-making packages are required.
- Good analytical and evidence-synthesis skills is required.
- Working experience in knowledge management and the ability to data and information into a narrative is an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially in communicating complex information and concepts to non-specialist audiences, are required.
- Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN language is an asset

Remuneration SB-3/3 (UNDP Brazil Salary Scale) The supervisor will receive an amount of BRL 19.081,92 to be paid in three (3) instalments upon the presentation and approval of the following products: ● Payment 1 (33,34%): Upon delivery and approval of Product 1 (BRL 6.360,64) ● Payment 2 ((33,33%): Upon delivery and approval of Product 2 (BRL 6.360,64) ● Payment 3 (33,33%): Upon delivery and approval of Product 3 (BRL 6.360,64).
