IRC has openings for two full-time Program Technicians on the Plant Materials Development team. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to work outdoors and use a variety of skills. Depending on the season, the Program Technician will assist with the daily operation of IRC’s native seed farm, which could be seeding and planting, weed management, seed harvesting, seed processing, or site maintenance. The Program Technician will also collect seeds from the wild, coordinate work crews, and assist with nursery propagation and maintenance. The Program Technician may work independently under general direction and as part of a team.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of two years of work experience in a related field and the following experience, skills, abilities, and knowledge:
- Experience in landscape maintenance, nursery work, habitat restoration, or similar
- Experience collecting, processing, and propagating seed and controlling non-native plants using various methods
- Experience safely using and maintaining hand tools such as hoes, trowels, shovels, and weed whips
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in an outdoor setting at multiple locations
- Familiarity with the local ecology is desired
