In close consultation on technical issues with the FAO Lead Technical Officers (LTO) and the Lead Technical Units (LTU) and the FAO-GEF Coordination Unit in the Investment Centre Division (TCID) on GEF and NEX (National Execution) issues, and under the direct supervision of the FAO Representative in Peru (the projects Budget Holder), the FAO-GEF Project Task Specialist (PTS) will support the FAO day-to-day supervision and technical backstopping of the GEF project portfolio in Peru in close collaboration with government and non-government project partners.
Reporting Lines:
The Project Task Specialist (PTS) will work under the direct supervision of the Better Environment Portfolio Coordinator and the Assistant FAOR Program, in close collaboration with the relevant project task forces. The PTM is being recruited to carry out the activities described below.
Technical Focus :
- The PTS must have a focus on project management to lead the GEF portfolio.
- In addition, the project task specialist will support the formulation of new projects and other assigned activities.
Tasks and responsibilities:
- Participate, lead and execute each of the phases of the GEF project cycle (PIF, CHILD, PPG, Implementation)
- Enforce all procedures framed in an OPIM agreement.
- Review and provide comments on technical reports and products, in coordination with the LTO;
- Participate in periodic supervision missions of the project.
- Support LTOs in preparing annual Project Implementation Review (PIR) reports.
- Serve as liaison with the Ministries of Agriculture, Environment, regional organizations and others (Government of Peru) to request final letters of co-financing and approval of Impact Program – IP child projects, as well as details of information to complete the aforementioned projects, among others.
- Support the LTO to ensure consistency and quality of the project document to be submitted to the GEF Coordination Unit at headquarters.
Candidates Will Be Assessed Against The Following:
Minimum Requirements
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in natural or environmental sciences, political sciences, social sciences, public administration, international relations or other fields related to natural resources management (NRM).
- At least 8 years of professional work experience in the implementation of projects for the conservation of biodiversity and / or natural resources management in the agricultural, forestry and fishing sectors, both at national, provincial, local, governmental and community levels.
- Working knowledge (Level C) of English and Spanish.
- National of Peru.
