Main purpose of job:
UK-Viet Nam trade and investment cooperation is brimming with promise and potential. The commitments made through the UKVFTA and CPTPP, coupled with the ongoing dialogue facilitated by our annual Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO), lay the foundation for a robust partnership. The trade policy team of the British Embassy in Hanoi is looking for a proactive, engaged individual to support on the trade policy discussions with the Vietnamese government/Ministry of Industry and Trade on the UK-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement and the annual UK Vietnam Joint Economic and Trade Committee talks. These work streams are critical to the bilateral trade relationship between the UK and Vietnam and are at the heart of the position. The trade policy Intern will work across the team to help deliver this.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:
- Assisting in trade dialogue organisation facilitated by the annual Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO) and UKVFTA Trade committees.
- Prepare briefing, presentations and other materials for trade committee events
- Support development and delivery of the Trade policy’s communications plan
- Support the team’s trade policy reporting and research
- Translating trade policy materials into Vietnamese / English for external and internal use
- Attend meetings and take minutes
- Support wider trade team for logistical and admin support
