The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Subsistence Section, is looking for a Subsistence Resource Specialist 2/3 Flex to join our dynamic, social science research team. This is a permanent, full-time position that will lead Southern Region subsistence research projects. The incumbent will be responsible for the development, planning, implementation, and reporting on the human dimensions of subsistence activities and regulations in southwest Alaska. This work involves fieldwork in remote communities; research topics include the harvest and use of salmon and nonsalmon fisheries, large land mammals, marine mammals, and vegetation, and the documentation of traditional knowledge. The incumbent will work under the direction of the Program Manager and in coordination with other Subsistence Resource Specialists to ensure quality and timely completion of priority tasks. The incumbent will also research, prepare, and present materials for regulatory review and will, on occasion, support Subsistence Section field research in other parts of the state.
