Position description

Job Purpose

The Advocacy and Events Officer helps organising and coordinating events as well as ECFR’s advocacy priorities.

Main responsibilities

  • Planning, tracking, evaluating, and reporting of events in coordination with national offices, programmes and the development team;
  • Actively assist in the organisation of the Annual Council Meeting (with a focus on logistics) in coordination with the Deputy Director, the advocacy and the communication teams;
  • Prepare communications strategies for events in coordination with communications team;
  • Consult on and assist in setting up events and briefings across the organisation;
  • Logistics and planning for centrally supported flagship events;
  • Support team as needed on admin & logistics (incl. campaigns, retreat project planning, tracking of expenses for comms and advocacy budget, and monthly card reporting);
  • Supporting the programme work in planning and coordination;
  • Maintaining events and advocacy Intranet pages.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in management, public relations, communications, or related area;
  • At least 2 years’ experience in planning, managing, and implementing events and other advocacy projects (incl. budgetary management skills);
  • Good time management, problem-solving, multi-tasking and interpersonal skills;
  • Very good writing and editing skills;
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft 365 software – additional experience with project management software a bonus;
  • English on native level (with excellent editing and proof-reading skills);
  • Organisational skills with a good eye for detail;
  • An ability to work under pressure, independently and constructively in a team;
  • Excellent communication skills (you should be comfortable communicating with other departments, program partners and the public);
  • Can-do and solution-oriented attitude, curiosity, and willingness to learn;
  • Knowledge of international relations and an understanding of think tank work;
  • Experience of working in an international environment is an asset.
