The Program for HIV and AIDS under the Health System and Population Studies Division (HSPSD) at icddr,b provides good quality HIV prevention services to key populations at risk of HIV infection since 2010. This has been made possible by working with the Government of Bangladesh (GoB), donors, NGOs and CBOs. Recently, the Program for HIV and AIDS has taken several initiatives to reach Hard-to-reach community groups with an innovative service delivery approach.

The Project Research Physician (PRP) will report to the Senior Research Investigator and will be responsible for planning, organizing, supervising and implementing the project activities, and overall supervision and monitoring, and maintaining the optimum quality of the clinical services of Opioid substitution therapy (OST) to achieve the project goals and objectives following the project protocols and maintaining the organizational values and guidelines. 

The specific areas of responsibilities are detailed below:

  • Provide day-to-day clinic services to OST clients (ex-PWID);
  • Prescribe methadone and general healthcare management for OST clients;
  • Clinical assessment of OST clients and enrolment of new clients;
  • Decide optimal dose for OST induction, maintenance, and release;
  • Prepare quarterly and annual reports of the project activities;
  • Coordinate with M&E officer for visit reports and review the same;
  • Assist in data analysis;
  • Conduct training for new staff of the clinic;
  • Conduct necessary lab investigations and urine screening tests;
  • Provide referrals services and supervise counsellors;
  • Provide technical assistance to other organizations.

Required qualification and experience:

  • MBBS 
  • 1 Year;Preference will be given to the candidate those who have prior experience to work with OST/PWID.
