About the role
This position reports directly to the Program Lead, Gahgook Indigenous Cultural Education Program within the Office of Indigenous Employment (OIED) and will work closely with the Gahgook Co-Design Reference group to be set up to support the design and ongoing evolution of the program, a Signature Project in Murmuk Djerring -– Indigenous Strategy 2023-2027.
As Design Lead, this role will plan, develop, implement, and evaluate learning solutions for the Indigenous Cultural Education program. You will be responsible for working with internal and external specialists in Indigenous cultural education to co-design learning solutions. You will also work collaboratively with the Indigenous Strategy, Diversity and Inclusion, Human Resources, Marketing and Communications teams and other stakeholders internal and external to the University.

About you
The University of Melbourne is seeking a Design Lead equipped with experience developing and implementing detailed project, educational and engagement plans. You will have an excellent track record of establishing and maintaining effective, trusted relationships with the executive, senior managers, and other key stakeholders. Additionally, you will have demonstrated leadership in the innovative development of subject designs, through research- informed practice and design of resources to facilitate more efficient learning design and development processes. A deep understanding of and connection to Indigenous cultures, along with resilience, adaptability and cultural sensitivity, are crucial for success in this role.
Key Requirements
- Well-developed knowledge and understanding of Indigenous societies, cultures and issues affecting Indigenous Australians and the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Indigenous Australian students, staff, community Elders and Indigenous community organisations
- An appropriate tertiary qualification or demonstrated learning and development experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Well demonstrated experience in designing and implementing capability development, learning programs and strategies, within a complex organisation
- Strong experience in designing and delivering development programs designed to support cultural transformation and employee experience initiatives.
- Well Demonstrated understanding of the principles and application of adult learning theory and experience working with external partners to co-design learning programs.
- Well Demonstrated experience successfully implementing communication and engagement processes in a large and complex environment
