The European Food Banks Federation (FEBA) is dedicated to supporting our member organizations across 30 European countries in their mission to alleviate hunger and reduce food waste. FEBA is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Fundraising and Partnerships to lead our resource mobilization efforts and manage our grant programs. This crucial role is integral to our mission, driving the financial and partnership strategies that empower our members and support our programmes to achieve our collective goals. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Head of Fundraising and Partnerships will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our fundraising vision.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy and Planning

  • Lead Annual Fundraising Planning: Spearhead the annual fundraising planning process with effective strategies aimed at achieving funding targets. Utilize a variety of streams and partnerships to ensure a diversified and sustainable funding base;
  • Support Executive Leadership: Work closely with the CEO and senior management to craft and implement long-term strategies that are in alignment with FEBA’s overarching organizational goals;
  • Identify New Funding Opportunities: Conduct comprehensive mapping and identification of potential opportunities to develop new funding streams. Your insights and initiatives will be vital in ensuring continued robust support for FEBA and its membership, thereby enhancing our capacity to have a significant impact.

Fundraising

  • Develop Cost-Effective Budgets: You will create and manage budgets that align with our action plans, ensuring that each initiative is financially viable and sustainable;
  • Implement Robust Financial Tracking Systems: You will contribute to the implementation and maintenance of systems for tracking income and expenditure;
  • Lead and Inspire: Guide and motivate our fundraising team to meet and surpass targets, contributing to a culture of excellence in donor relations;
  • Grant and Trust Management: Oversee our grant and trust income programs supporting implementation and reporting throughout the lifecycle of the grants and funds;
  • Diversify Funding: Proactively explore and secure new funding streams;
  • Partnership Cultivation: Forge deep and meaningful partnerships, nurturing supporter journeys that strengthen relationships with current and future supporters.

Network Development

  • Strategic Collaboration: Promote relations between FEBA Members and partners to undertake joint projects and improve the impact on the ground;
  • Internal Synergy: Foster cohesive collaboration among member countries, ensuring synergy in fundraising activities to maximize our collective impact on global challenges;
  • External Engagement: Represent our organization at prestigious external events hosted by stakeholders, and lead productive internal meetings to bolster visibility, forge new partnerships, and deepen existing relationships.

Staff Management

  • Goal Setting and Accountability: Set clear objectives and work plans ensuring alignment with organizational goals and strategies;
  • Performance Management: Regularly engage in one-to-one discussions to manage workload effectively and enhance performance, providing constructive feedback and support;
  • Professional Development: Design and implement personalized development programs to nurture the skills and capabilities of team members, empowering them to excel in their roles and grow within the organization;
  • Annual Reviews: Conduct thorough annual performance reviews, recognizing achievements and identifying opportunities for further development and improvement.

Qualifications

Experience and Knowledge

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar or related role;
  • Comprehensive understanding of fundraising techniques and environments within the non-profit sector;
  • Demonstrated track record of strategic fundraising and management;
  • Successful achievement at management level in a comparable organization;
  • Proven ability to meet challenging income targets and build key stakeholder relationships;
  • Excellent writing skills with a strong knowledge of philanthropic issues.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong leadership qualities with an innovative and agile management style;
  • Creativity, initiative, and innovation in problem-solving;
  • Leadership, collaboration, and result-oriented mindset;
  • Good negotiation and people skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English; additional language skills are an asset.

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to occasionally travel abroad;
  • Only candidates who possess a valid work permit for Belgium are eligible for consideration.
