JOB BRIEF
The Research Assistant will provide research and support to the Inclusive Peace Processes and Reconciliation team.
* Pay: $17.50 – $18.50
* Work schedule:20 Hours/Week Expected
* Start Date: September 1, 2024 – December 20, 2024 (flexible dates with the possibility for extension)
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide research and support for the Inclusive Peace Processes and Reconciliation Team within USIP’s Gandhi-King Global Academy, specifically to:
* Conduct desk research to support team programs on various components and features of peace processes such as ceasefires, negotiation, mediation, dialogue, reconciliation, scenario building, and peace games.
* Assist in planning and supporting events on peace processes to include developing agendas, speaking lists, taking notes, and preparing other related materials.
* Support the development of training materials, agendas, and simulation scenarios for field capacity-building related to skills such as mediation, dialogue, and negotiation.
* Conduct research, synthesize information, and create simulation scenarios related to conflicts and peace processes.
* Perform administrative duties to ensure the successful advancement of the portfolio.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Must be a full-time graduate student in the Washington Metro Area, preferably studying international relations, political science, governance, international peace and conflict resolution, or a related field.
* Excellent research, editing, and writing skills.
* Ability to review, synthesize, and articulate themes from across multiple disciplines and policy and research literatures.
* Experience in event planning.
* Previous research and office experience required.
USIP’s Research Assistant program is administered through the Consortium of Universities in the Washington Metropolitan area. Any full-time university student in the Washington area is eligible for these openings.
All USIP contract and employee positions are contingent upon the favorable completion of a suitability background investigation.
Compensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
