You will be supporting markets to reach the IG goals and increase the acquisition and nurture of high-quality legacy supporters. Based within the region, the role holder is pivotal in forming strong relationships with markets and increasing the impact the region is making through legacy fundraising to build a long-term income pipeline. Aligning with the global legacy strategy you will be securing long-term income and increasing unrestricted resources, vital for our work for children.
A notable and significant element of the role will be in supporting Country Offices to create a legal framework and systems necessary for markets to fundraise and administer legacies gifts in accordance with the local legal jurisdiction and acting in accordance with UN regulation.
Being a legacy focal point for your market portfolio, you will provide proportional and tailored support in the most impactful and prioritized way. This position will assist markets to establish effective legacy fundraising programs and adopt a market-driven and audience-centred approach. The portfolio encompasses several emerging and developing markets, including Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Uruguay, and Mexico. Collaborating with both markets and headquarters functions, the role involves offering strategic guidance, market support, and contributing to the dedicated IG team of specialists focused on these markets, all in alignment with the overarching vision and strategic direction.
Embracing an agile methodology, this role entails collaborative work within a geographical team alongside other specialists in PFP IG – marketing, products (encompassing cash, pledge, emergency, subscription), and channels (with a particular focus on digital platforms).
DELIVERABLES:
- Support markets to all have a legal framework established and clear administration procedures in place.
- Liaise with UNICEF HQ legal, operations, finance teams and country offices to ensure lawful and professional management of legacy cases.
- Support markets during the annual planning period to develop their strategy and set realistic goals.
- Work with PFP colleagues to support markets to reach their agreed goals.
- Integrate legacy giving to maximize supporter’s lifetime giving and minimize missed income opportunities.
- Markets use comparable reporting metrics that are aligned with the global legacy cycle and handraiser segments.
- Markets are making insight driven decisions and testing.
- Conduct retrospectives and post-implementation reviews for thorough evaluation
- Support the legacy community and develop networking opportunities for LAC markets to engage and share learnings with other legacy focal points and IG specialists.
- Actively manage workflow balance (using Agile methodology and tools), for both sustaining established market operations and long-term impact
- Provide concise and insightful strategic market feedback to the global IG team.

Education:
- An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: Marketing or Communications, or a related field.
- Alternatively, a first-level university degree in combination with two years of additional work experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional work experience in fundraising is required.
- Experience working in either mass market fundraising or major donor fundraising is required.
- Experience in international legacy fundraising is an asset.
- Knowledge of legacy administration is an asset.
- Excellent stakeholder and great team player who can work collaboratively and positively with our extensive network of local market-based colleagues is required.
- Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope and timeline is required.
- Strong analytical skills for data-informed decision-making and strategic planning are required.
- Proven project management experience, ensuring timely delivery and meeting objectives is required.
- Strong networking and influencing skills to drive results is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, conveying complex ideas concisely is required.
- Experience in agile methodologies and the use of digital planning tools is an asset.
- UN/UNICEF experience is an asset.
Language requirements:
- Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
- Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian) or a local language is an asset.
