End Date Tuesday 30 July 2024Salary Range £80,206 – £94,360Flexible Working Options Hybrid Working, Job ShareJob Description Summary .Job DescriptionJOB TITLE: Senior Manager, Finance Chief Control OfficeSALARY: £80,206 – £94,360LOCATION(S): Edinburgh or LondonHOURS: Full timeWORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in either of the above officesAbout this opportunityThis role sits within the Finance Chief Control Office and assumes responsibility for leading the Control Optimisation team for Operational (Non-Financial) Risk within Group Finance.We’re on a journey as a Group to reset the way we handle Operational risk. This role will support the Finance Chief Control Officer in driving forward the transformation of the Group’s risk and control agenda, delivering an effective and robust control environment within Group Finance in partnership with Risk and Control Owners and Risk Specialists.You’ll collaborate with our Group Finance colleagues, providing expertise to implement our control strategy and ensure management can optimally discharge their accountabilities.Day to day you’ll be;

  • Shaping and leading control optimisation strategy for Operational (Non-Financial) risk in Finance (this excludes Financial Reporting Risk), including involvement in the Control Automation approach within Finance.
  • Supporting the review & challenge of the Finance risk profile and control strategy implementation.
  • Critically reviewing how the Operational (Non-Financial) risk profile is handled in Finance, build on the quality of risk profile management and identify, recommend and support delivery on areas of improvement.
  • Co-ordinating and planning risk and control assessments, mapping of key processes and controls, remediation actions, and provide guidance across the end to end GFS & FDAO finance processes.
  • Providing guidance, review and challenge to process and control owners in the application of the Risk Management framework for the Finance teams.
  • Provide guidance, review and challenge to process and control owners in the application of the Risk Management framework for the GFS & FDAO, supporting the GFS & FDAO DFD in the discharge of their risk management responsibilities.

  • Professional qualification in related field (audit, risk management, accounting) with in-depth specialist risk capabilities.
  • Strong finance risk and control expertise in relation to Operational (Non-Financial) risk categories across accounting processes and systems, with the skills to challenge risk and control owners on the end-to-end management of risk.
  • Operational expertise aligned to management of Operational (Non-Financial) Risk, including some experience (or transferable experience) related to the risk arising from Operational Resilience, Security, Sourcing, Compliance, Economic Crime, Change and IT systems within a Finance function.
  • Solid understanding of how Risk Management framework interlocks with Group Policy requirements in the context of Finance operationally, or can demonstrate where this experience has been held within a similar function / business area
  • Experience of control management and the practical implementation across relevant business area with a record of leading control design, optimisation, automation, testing and monitoring activities.
  • Experience in leading teams and building partnerships, working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives at pace
