About our facility
Just a few kilometres from Newcastle’s CBD, Uniting Lindsay Gardens, Hamilton is a warm and welcoming aged care home with 3 separate households, each with 15–34 residents, including a Memory Support Unit for people living with dementia. Your Uniting Homemaker ensures that the community is thriving and doing things that are meaningful and enjoyable.
Your work may include:
- Facilitating and overseeing the quality, timely and effective preparation of food in line with the unique needs of clients in an environment where dietary requirements can change rapidly.
- Planning and developing in consultation with the service manager and residents rotating menus where required.
- Preparing and cooking all daily meals and maintaining the storage and protection of food and catering supplies for optimum use.
- Ensuring food preparation and catering practices adhere to hygiene and safety principles and are free of any hazards.
- Maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Safe Work Practices.
Who we’re looking for
- Minimum 5 years experience in aged care.
- Ideally, you’ll have a Certificate III in Hospitality, Commercial Cookery, or similar or demonstrated competence in the provision of catering services.
- You’ll have previous experience in similar position and experience with cook fresh/cook-chill methodology and awareness of texture modified food/controls.
- Demonstrated competence in the preparation of menus following dietary requirements and competence in the purchasing, storage, and efficient use of food supplies within endorsed budget guidelines.
- You’ll be adaptable, empathetic and resourceful, and be able to live Uniting’s everyday values of being compassionate, respectful, imaginative, and bold.
