Your Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Finance Business Partner to join our dedicated finance team. In this role, you will support the Senior Finance Business Partner in providing essential financial support for grant-funded services. As you gain experience and expertise, you will gradually take on more complex financial responsibilities.
This position involves managing financial processes related to block grants and acquittal management, ensuring a thorough understanding of business drivers. By closely collaborating with the finance team, you will help maintain consistency in service delivery and offer high-level support for both service delivery functions and enabling services when needed. Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Month end close: Ensure Income and Expenditure (I&E) results for the allocated states or service streams or corporate services are complete and accurate. Act on corrections required, liaising with central functions as required.
- Month End reporting duties including analysing and explaining variances at the appropriate level of detail, identifying key trends and one off transactions, summarising of monthly and YTD performance against budget & forecast.
- Meet with relevant stakeholders including Program Managers, as requested by the Senior Finance Business Partner, on a regular basis and to discuss results, including analysis of movements from prior periods and initiatives to achieve future outcomes.
- Assist with tender bids and financial analysis and modelling within the required timeframes.
- Use appropriate decision support tools to assist in appraising new initiatives, ensuring all financial impacts are understood and agreed.
- Manage the budget and forecast process in line with guidance from the Senior Finance Business Partner. Analyse for completeness and accuracy and seek resolution to identified issues.
- Ensure stakeholders are fully engaged in the process and the required signoff is documented.
Requirements for Success
- Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Finance, Accounting or business-related field.
- CPA or other recognised finance or business qualification or progress towards it is highly desirable.
- Excellent Excel, analysis and modelling skills.
- Use of Microsoft Dynamics Fin OPS365 (financial system) and Workday Adaptive Planning (Budgeting, Forecasting and Reporting system) are desirable.
- 3 to 5 years financial experience managing grant funded services and or research grants or employment services.
- Demonstrated experience working and collaborating effectively with others, ensuring key stakeholders are involved, sharing information and ensuring people are kept informed of progress, changes and issues.
- High attention to detail with a results driven mindset and excellent time management skills.
