JOB SUMMARY
What we are looking for
NRC Syria is looking for an Area Manager to join the North-East Area Office. The role holder will be responsible for ensuring high-quality and cost-effective programme/project implementation in the designated geographic area.

What You Will Do
- Provide effective leadership to the Area team: regular organisation of Senior Management Team meetings to ensure the flow of information between the area and the country office; participation in Programme meetings; performance management of direct reports.
- Ensure strong coordination and cooperation between support departments in the area office and centralized technical managers ensuring a common vision and positive collaboration.
- Represent NRC at the sub-national level with local stakeholders and national and international NGOs.
- Represent NRC with area-based donors.
- With the support of the Area Team, take the lead on the repositioning of NRC in the area to better respond to the changing humanitarian needs.
- Provide regular input to advocacy initiatives.
- Accountable for safe programming at the area level in line with NRC Protection Policy and guidelines.
- Support the planning and conduction of protection-sensitive risk and needs assessments

What You Will Bring
- Minimum 4 years of experience from working as a senior project manager in a humanitarian/recovery context.
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
- Experience in expanding Shelter/WASH programming is a great advantage.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of the context in Syria.
- Knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
- Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile.
What We Offer
- Al Hasakah, Syria- duty station.
- 12-month contract duration (with possibility of extension based on funding and performance).
- 30% travel, approximately to areas of Operation.
- Senior Grade 10 in NRC’s Salary Scale.
