Job Description: 

The Strategic and Technical Development Specialist will play a crucial role in managing IID projects, supporting the Program Manager, and collaborating with the M&E Officer. This position involves developing and implementing research plans, enhancing data collection methodologies, building and managing teams, training staff, and engaging with returnees and stakeholders. The specialist will also focus on documenting best practices, analyzing data, supporting social media efforts, and participating in local and international meetings to improve integration strategies and prevent violent extremism. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Research and Data Collection: 

  • Develop a comprehensive research plan, prioritizing key issues. 
  • Increase the organization’s target sites and refine data collection methodologies. 
  • Build and manage a data collection team, defining roles and responsibilities. 
  • Train the team on electronic techniques and data collection tools for research. 
  • Identify important research topics and present them to the organisation’s management for selection. 

Engagement and Integration: 

  • Engage with returnees and stakeholders to understand challenges in the integration process and prevent violent extremism. 
  • Document observations and store research findings according to best practices. 
  • Analyze collected data, verify its accuracy, and identify key results. 
  • Prepare and present bi-weekly research reports on the needs of displaced persons. 

Support and Communication: 

  • Provide support to the social media department by sharing weekly success stories about displacement programs. 
  • Participate in local and international meetings and seminars to discuss integration challenges and develop strategies to address them. 

Reporting and Collaboration: 

  • Prepare comprehensive periodic reports on research project progress and provide recommendations for performance improvement. 
  • Collaborate with other organizational teams to provide necessary research and knowledge support to achieve project goals. 
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate the impact of IID programs to ensure desired outcomes and suggest improvements when needed. 

Development and Innovation: 

  • Develop new tools and methodologies for data collection and analysis to meet current and future project requirements. 
  • Participate in writing research papers and scientific articles to publish research findings and contribute to the academic field. 
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with academic and research institutions to enhance knowledge and exchange expertise. 

Other: 

  • Enhanced focus on priority issues through well-structured research plans. 
  • Increased reach and impact of IID’s programs by targeting more sites and refining data collection. 
  • Improved team efficiency and effectiveness through dedicated training and management. 
  • Better integration strategies and violence prevention through stakeholder engagement. 
  • Higher visibility and support for IID’s mission via strategic social media content. 
  • Strengthened organisational knowledge base and performance through continuous monitoring, evaluation, and collaboration with academic entities. 
  • Required to adhere to IID principles and values as well as the promotion of gender justice and women’s rights 
    Understanding of and commitment to adhere to equity, diversity, gender, child safety and staff health and wellbeing principles 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of a master’s degree in legal and social sciences, Development Studies, Statistics, or related fields; Ph.D. degree preferred. 
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in research, data collection, and analysis, preferably in a development or humanitarian context. 
  • Minimum of 10 years of work experience in an NGO. 
  • Strong experience in managing projects and teams. 
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. 
  • Proficiency in data analysis software and electronic data collection tools. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment. 
  • Fluency in Arabic and English, both written and spoken.
