Join our team and play a crucial role in the successful execution of our projects! Collaborate with the Controls Project Manager, Lead System Engineer, and SIM to ensure all necessary information for handling, programming, and commissioning is prepared promptly, allowing our teams to work seamlessly. Your goal will be to maximise the results of all projects by ensuring the effective, professional, and economical implementation of customer requirements. You’ll optimise processes to enhance productivity and minimise errors by leveraging your expertise. Success in this role is measured by the timely, error-free preparation, commissioning, documentation, and implementation of customer orders. Additionally, you’ll recruit, train, and coach engineers, with a strong focus on their personal development and wellbeing. You’ll also manage, coordinate, and plan resources for assigned projects, ensuring we meet performance, deadline, and cost optimisation goals.Becki DavisWHAT YOU’LL BE HANDLING

  • Responsible for the commissioning of the Controls-Trade from the time the order is placed until the end of commissioning.
  • Some involvement with SWEC and COMC duties supporting team members.
  • Closely work with Tech Leads and ComC Leads to understand and delegate project work.
  • Management of the team with focus on the effective, professional and economic implementation of the order, as well the requirements of TGW for the optimized provision of services and the administration of the employees.
  • Perform frequent 1-2-1 with team members to get latest insights of individual needs.
  • Maintain skills matrix, identifying and addressing any skills gaps.
  • Work with team members on their personal goals and training to ensure proper professional development within the team.
  • Develop and provide on-the-job training for junior engineers and apprentices.
  • Work with the Technical Training team to ensure that any specific trainings for Commissioning engineers are provided as required.
  • Predictive resource planning and task distribution in the team, as well as the coordination of requirements with the other teams as well as with the Head of Controls Service, the (Senior) Project Manager and the Systems engineers.
  • Ensure that the assigned projects have the correct levels of resources within MPM.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Controls Services and Controls Project Manager to pinpoint and resolve any resource gaps.
  • Escalation level for the team members
  • Collaboration and feedback with the various departments in the realization process (Manufacturing, Installation Services, Process Planning, Supply Chain Management, Controls Development)
  • Quality assurance, progress control, support from the office
  • Involved in staff selection.
  • Close cooperation with the System Engineering team and SIM
  • Assistance with inquiries / interests from the other TGW units
  • Ensure staff utilisation is kept to the required 90% level
  • Collaborate with Apprentice Coordinator, Early Careers Manager and Learning & Development Team to support Controls Apprentices throughout their apprenticeship.
  • Facilitate lesson learned process ensuring everything is captured, shared and actions are taken as required for future projects

What you’ll need To be successful in your application, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • A relevant qualification or technical training in electrical engineering, mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Entrepreneurial thinking and the ability to act decisively.
  • Management or supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency in software design, creation, and technical delivery within a project environment using Siemens software (Simatic Manager, TIA Portal).
  • Strong customer focus with excellent communication skills.
  • A background in the material handling or automation industry.
  • Reliability and a keen sense of cost awareness.
  • A customer-oriented mindset.
  • Technical product knowledge.
  • Initiative and proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Microsoft Office, Navision, ACAD, Budget, and Doxis.
  • Knowledge of realisation processes and adjacent processes.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel within the TGW NE region (50%).
  • Strong decision-making abilities.
  • A structured approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience in resource management.
  • Proven mentoring and leadership skills for team development.
