Description

ESA Brand Deployment Officer, ESA Brand Outreach Office, Outreach Division, Communication Department, Director General’s Services.

 

Under the direct authority of the Head of the ESA Brand Outreach Office, you are responsible for overseeing the application and deployment of the ESA Brand and its components, through communication vehicles aimed at enhancing the brand recognition and reputation such as merchandising, partnerships, licensing and ESA establishments’ signage and application.

You also support and oversee adequate and appropriate deployment of the ESA Brand through exhibitions and events, when needed and requested.

Duties

Your tasks and responsibilities will include:

 

  • interfacing with internal and external customers/stakeholders (Facility Management, public relations activities, museums, partners, exhibitors, etc.) to understand their requirements in term of Brand application and liaising with the relevant graphic application services for product design development and harmonisation in compliance with the ESA Corporate Visual Identity;
  • coordinating the further development and maintenance of the ESA Brand Centre and all its graphical components, and supporting the definition and development of a set of ESA Brand corporate messaging and narratives ensuring a corporate tone of voice;
  • coordinating the implementation and harmonisation of ESA establishment shops (ESA flagship concept) by liaising adequately and appropriately with the ESA Merchandising Officer, Facility Management, architect studios and suppliers in order to support all the logistics required for Brand and Identity harmonisation;
  • liaising with the ESA Merchandising Officer for the product development process for all collections (B-to-C and with a strong focus on B-to-B) planned to be released during the different milestones of the year and measuring the impact of B-to-B merchandising production and distribution;
  • in coordination with the ESA Merchandising Officer and the relevant Department offices, liaising with the relevant service contracts to ensure adequate and appropriate deployment and distribution of merchandising products across ESA establishments and internal stakeholders;
  • liaising with the ESA Partnerships Coordination Officer for the Brand deployment through a partnership development process planned to be implemented during the year, and supporting the process to evaluate, validate and authorise potential supplier requests for the free use of the ESA Brand (ESA logo, in particular) for merchandising products and apparel on channels other than the official ESA Space Shop, and, upon request, supporting ESA Legal Services with the provision of any documentation needed in the event of non-compliance of unauthorised sales of ESA merchandise by external parties;
  • monitoring in liaison with the Department Management Support Unit, ESA Brand deployment, and its impact in term of ESA awareness by:
    • establishing a set of identified key performance indicators for both the Merchandising and Partnerships activities,
    • running an annual ESA Brand Awareness survey through an external provider,
    • conducting benchmarking analyses, when deemed appropriate,
    • interfacing on a regular basis with the Legal Services Department to ensure proper legal partnership agreements are reached and overseeing authorisation for any use of the ESA Brand (ESA logo, in particular) in all applications and in particular related to Merchandising and Partnerships activities and supporting, upon request, through the provision of any documentation required in the event of non-compliance of unauthorised sales of ESA merchandise by external parties.

Education

A master’s degree in a relevant domain is required for this post.

Additional requirements

Strong problem-solving skills to deal with day-to-day operational challenges, together with demonstrated planning, organisational skills, and strong result orientation. 
Proven relationship management and communication skills as well as the capacity to work well under pressure with tight deadlines and the flexibility to adapt to new and unforeseen demands as well as to manage challenging situations proactively.
Good knowledge of the merchandising market sector.
Experience in business-to-business activities, architectural concepts, interior design and facility management will be an asset.

Important Information and Disclaimer
In principle, recruitment will be within the advertised grade band (A2-A4). However, if the selected candidate has less than four years of relevant professional experience following the completion of the master’s degree, the position may be filled at A1 level.

During the recruitment process, the Agency may request applicants to undergo selection tests. Additionally, successful candidates will need to undergo basic screening before appointment, which will be conducted by an external background screening service, in compliance with the European Space Agency’s security procedures.

Note that ESA is in the process of transitioning to a Matrix setup, which could lead to organisational changes affecting this position.
