1. Background

SCRM is a distinguished Third-Party Monitoring (TPM) company, known for delivering independent monitoring and evaluation services for humanitarian and development programs. We are currently seeking a motivated and dedicated intern to join our team. This internship offers a unique chance to gain practical experience in proposal writing and project support within the TPM sector, contributing to the enhancement of program accountability and effectiveness.

2. Purpose of the Internship

This is an unpaid internship that aims to support the TPM team in drafting proposals and developing monitoring and evaluation matrices, as well as assisting in various project activities. The intern will be involved in all stages of proposal writing, from research and planning to final drafting, and will also provide support in the implementation and monitoring of ongoing project activities.

3. Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the TPM Manager, the intern will undertake the following tasks:

Proposal Writing:

  • Assist in gathering and analyzing information and data relevant to proposed projects.
  • Contribute to drafting and developing project proposals that meet donor requirements.
  • Create monitoring and evaluation matrices to support project proposals.

Project Support:

  • Provide administrative and logistical support for ongoing project activities.
  • Assist in organizing meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
  • Support the implementation of work plans and monitor the progress of activities.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Assist in the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Prepare data analysis reports and create visualizations and presentations of data findings.

Learning and Development:

  • Participate in training sessions and capacity-building activities.
  • Stay informed about TPM best practices and methodologies.

Scoping new opportunities:

  • Search for TPM, evaluation and research ToRs with potential clients in SCRM areas of operation and exploring new areas.

Other duties:

  • Based on the intern’s interest, experience and needs in SCRM; this may include support to our social media platforms, digital marketing, arranging webinars, training materials preparation, training delivery, etc.

4. Qualifications and Requirements

Education:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Social Sciences, International Development, Statistics, or a related field.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, Stata) is an advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in other languages is a plus.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in proposal writing, monitoring and evaluation, data collection, or research is preferred.
  • Experience with humanitarian or development projects is an asset.

Attributes:

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel to field locations, sometimes in challenging environments.

5. About the internship:

  • The internship is for a period of 6 months.
  • Location: Remote.
  • this is an unpaid internship

6. Supervision and Reporting

The intern will report directly to the TPM Manager. Regular feedback and performance reviews will be conducted to ensure the intern’s professional development and alignment with internship goals.

  • Ability to combine the internship with the thesis. This internship is an excellent opportunity to select an MA thesis/topic related to SCRM work, therefore, SCRM can support in linking to respondents for their field work and interviews including field data collection via SCRM field teams.
  • Learn qualitative and quantitative analytical methods. Interns will be trained and guided by their line managers on such skills.
  • Enhance public speaking skills as interns will manage webinars and meetings with clients
