Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. This internship is located in the UN House, Beirut, Lebanon. Under the direct supervision of The Regional Coordinator for Environmental Governance. The intern’s duties may include, but are not limited to: – Engage in comprehensive research related to literature, regulations, policy, and data to support the implementation of UNEP West Asia project activities related to Environmental Governance in the region; -Mapping different political contexts in the West Asia region and providing the Regional Coordinator with insights and regular updates;- Support the regional coordinator in the strategic engagement with West Asia countries to advance the environmental agenda in the region. The intern may carry out any other additional duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the direct supervisor.
Qualifications/special skills
Posting Text: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). (c ) have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation 0
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in English is required for the internship. Fluency in Arabic is desirable.
