Your impact

The General Manager Practice Excellence (GM PE) is a member of the Foundation House Senior Executive and plays a crucial role in the leadership, management, and strategic direction of the agency.

Foundation House recognises the critical link between the standard and quality of our services and the delivery of safe, person-centred, effective, and connected care, which yields the best client outcomes. The Practice Excellence team is core to ensuring that the services provided by Foundation House are delivered to the highest standard and are in line with organisational purpose, priorities, and obligations.

The Practice Excellence team is responsible for:

  • Leading the design, delivery and implementation of practice development support and programs in collaboration and partnership with the broader leadership team.
  • Leading the design and delivery of external training aimed at supporting the work of the sector to deliver trauma-informed care to communities from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds.
  • Leading the coordination of quality improvement initiatives for the organisation’s service delivery arms.
  • Providing authoritative professional, practice and policy advice related to Foundation House’s Integrated Trauma Recovery Service Model (ITRSM) as outlined in Rebuilding Shattered Lives: Integrated Trauma Recovery for People of Refugee Background (2nd edition).
  • The management of client and health information in line with statutory obligations.

The role

Reporting to the CEO, the General Manager Practice Excellence will be responsible for leading initiatives and processes designed to build practice excellence across all areas of service provision. This includes providing leadership and oversight of quality improvement initiatives, practice development across the organisation, sector training, as well as driving the analysis of performance through best practice health information management and service performance evaluation.

This position plays a key role in ensuring that our client, community capacity building, sector development and training work are of the highest quality and in accordance with the Foundation House Integrated Trauma Recovery Service Model, Rebuilding Shattered Lives, and international best practice.

Some of the key responsibilities for the role include:

  • Overall leadership of the Practice Excellence Program in accordance with organisational priorities and practice obligations.
  • Lead and oversee the implementation and embedding of the Victorian Government’s Community Services Quality Governance Framework within Foundation House.
  • Lead and drive the development, implementation, and oversight of quality measures in line with the Community Services Quality Governance Framework and practice needs.
  • Participate and engage as an active and effective member of the Agency Management Team (AMT)
  • Contribute to organisational strategic planning and provide strategic leadership with respect to the Practice Excellence Program.
  • Represent Foundation House on matters related to practice excellence in state and national forums that contribute to policy reform and service enhancements.
  • Manage a multi-disciplinary team that includes the portfolios of Health Information, Practice Development & Learning and Quality.

This role is a full-time, ongoing position based in our Brunswick Head Office. Some travel to our other Melbourne offices will be a role requirement.

What you’ll need to successfully apply

To be successful, you will need to positively respond to the below selection criteria:

  • Post graduate qualification in a mental health discipline (psychiatry, clinical psychology, mental health, social work) with a practice and quality improvement focus.
  • Extensive experience as a senior clinician in the mental health sector.
  • Experience in evaluating mental health outcome data for the purpose of service quality improvement. Highly developed skills in quantitative and qualitative approaches to service evaluation.
  • Senior experience in the development and delivery of professional learning and training in working with complex trauma.
  • Demonstrated senior leadership experience in managing and oversight of complex clinical and psychosocial assessments, case planning and counselling and advocacy responses to people with complex trauma experiences.
