THE ROLE

The Director of HR will provide strategic leadership in the design, development, implementation, and management of human resource strategies. The Director plays a critical role in shaping HALO’s future and ensuring that its people-processes contribute to its overall success. The position requires a combination of technical expertise, strategic thinking, leadership skills, and effective communication.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement HR strategy aligned with business goals
  • Participate in the development and delivery of the organization’s business plan

People Management and Development

  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and talent management processes
  • Develop and implement performance management and appraisal systems
  • Foster a positive and engaging work environment
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations

Operational Excellence

  • Manage HR operations, including payroll, benefits, and HRIS
  • Provide HR advisory services to employees and managers
  • Oversee HR data analysis and reporting

Governance and Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to HR policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Provide HR support to the Board of Trustees

Additional Responsibilities

  • Travel to international locations as required
  • Act as a Duty Officer

REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in human resource management/CIPD/SHRM, or a related field (or demonstrable professional experience in a similar senior role).
  • Significant experience in human resource management
  • Proven experience in leading HR strategy and implementation at an organisational level.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience operating internationally, preferably within the humanitarian and international development sector.
  • ​​​​​​​Understanding of and interest in the humanitarian and international development sector
