How can you make a difference?
- As an intern, you will support research related to sports and children. Your work will directly support Programme Group and contribute to developing strategies and approaches that yield tangible results for children worldwide. Ideally, you will have a demonstrated interest or background in sports and will leverage this passion to enhance children’s participation in sports worldwide.
- Your responsibilities will be multifaceted, encompassing preparatory, organizational, research, and analytical responsibilities. Tasks will include the following:
Consolidation of information
- Consolidate information and provide an overview of UNICEF’s sports-related activities using existing documents, such as SOPs, guidelines, advocacy messages, data, research relevant past programmes, etc.
Survey development and analysis
- Develop and conduct a comprehensive survey for country offices to assess on-ground sports related activities and programs.
- Analyze survey data to extract meaningful insights and trends.
- Create an easy-to-digest report and PowerPoint presentation summarizing survey findings.
- Based on the consolidated research, map sports initiatives and respective key internal stakeholders at country, regional, and headquarters level.
- Consult with a select group of relevant stakeholders and experts on what might be UNICEF’s key programming tenets in support for development.

Have the following eligibility requirements.
- Be enrolled, within the past year, in a graduate degree programme with a preferred major in Sport management, Sport sciences, Kinesiology, Sport psychology, or a related field.
- Have demonstrated interest or background in sports, ideally with experience in sports-related programs, sports and mental health initiatives, and/or promoting physical activity in children.
- Have previous experience developing surveys is an asset.
- Be fluent in English. Proficiency in another UN language is an asset
- Exceptionally strong statistics, economics skills or sports for development knowledge
- Strategic thinking and research skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Intellectual curiosity
- Excellent organization and time management skills with a keen eye for detail
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Problem-solving skills, with ability to take ownership of projects and make suggestions on how to improve the role.
- Ability to manage and respect multiple deadlines while working independently with different agents on several projects.
The following are considered assets:
- Experience using survey development tools like Kobo, SurveyMonkey, Google Forms, Qualtrics
- Proficiency in statistical software (SPSS, STATA, R)
- Strong command of Microsoft Excel
- Proven writing skills
