ABOUT THIS ROLE

YWCA Australia is currently seeking a dedicated Intake Worker to join our Homelessness Services team in our Sydney office. This is a full time role on a maximum term contract ending on 30 June 2026.

The role provides a single point of contact for client referral, intake and brief intervention. They are responsible for:

  • Managing the client referral, intake and assessment process for the Sydney Homelessness Service
  • Conducting effective needs assessments
  • Providing interventions and supports to clients
  • Facilitating intake and allocations team meetings

ABOUT YOU

The ideal applicant will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in the homelessness sector
  • Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with clients in crisis and provide appropriate, trauma-informed support
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the homelessness sector, including programs, support services and service pathways
  • Demonstrated understanding of the needs of clients from diverse communities, especially Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse clients
  • Sound organisational, administrative and IT skills

This position will require the applicant to satisfactorily meet our pre-employment requirements. This includes:

  • Completion of a national criminal history check
  • A valid relevant state-based working with children permit.
