Your new role

The primary purpose of the Community Integration Coordinator position is to connect young parents (14-24 years of age) with their local communities. You will focus on activities of interest to young people and connecting them with appropriate activities, clubs, and organisations.

You will:

  • Provide professional mentoring support to young people
  • Recruit, train and supervise volunteers to support and facilitate a young person’s connection to their chosen activity
  • Support the young person to establish connections and relationships beyond the school setting and the service system.

The role has an interface with the social services system, via Child Protection, case managers, and the Kurnai Young Parents Program where the program is situated.

Some out of hours (evenings) work will be required to support young people and volunteers.

About you

  • You’re skilled in delivering outcomes-based services that have consistently achieved contract performance targets.
  • You have driven a multi-faceted human services program before, preferably in the youth sector with emphasis on trauma-informed practice, family and individual functioning and adolescent development.
  • You’re passionate and committed to working effectively with disadvantaged young people, their carers and communities.
  • You have demonstrated knowledge of case management and youth work principles.
  • You’re a people person – excellent at stakeholder management, including the ability to form strong partnerships for the benefit of a shared goal.

You have

  • Relevant qualifications in Youth Work, Social Work, Community Services and extensive experience in the field;
  • Current Working with Children card.
  • Willingness to undertake a National Police Check (and International if required)
  • Level 2 First Aid Certificate.
  • Experience in using SHIP/SRS would be highly regarded.
