TreeFolks is an Austin-based nonprofit organization. Our mission is to empower Central Texans to build stronger communities through planting and caring for trees. TreeFolks is seeking a Communications and Marketing Coordinator. This position will focus on creative, outward-facing, and community-focused work to increase awareness and engagement with TreeFolks’ mission. This full-time, permanent position will involve real-time storytelling, social media management, and community outreach.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience with crafting communications for our different channels, connecting with our communities, both online and in person, while representing the TreeFolks brand. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Community Engagement and Outreach:
      • Capture and share real-time stories about TreeFolks’ work to enhance community engagement.
      • Collaborate with volunteer and program teams to continue the success of Austin’s Tree of the Year Award through outreach events and cross-promotional marketing.
      • Serve as liaison with TreeFolks Young Professionals Network and provide support for YoPro events and activities. 
  • Social Media and Content Management:
      • Manage and update content across all social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube) to grow the organization’s presence.
      • Design and distribute electronic communications, including newsletters and email blasts.
      • Coordinate video content across platforms and develop strategies for maximum reach. 
      • Maintain and update content on TreeFolks’ websites via WordPress and Squarespace.
      • Provide reach reports for the organization’s media platforms (website, newsletters, social media).
  • Event Coordination and Marketing:
      • Co-manage event merchandise and coordinate event-related communications.
      • Support tabling and community outreach efforts.
      • Assist in creating, evaluating, and implementing the annual communications plan.
  • Collaborative Projects and Brand Alignment:
    • Collaborate with the Marketing Manager and Program Leads on print collateral, such as banners, brochures, and merchandise.
    • Ensure all communications align with TreeFolks’ brand and mission.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in social media marketing, event activations, and community outreach.
  • Comfortable speaking with diverse groups and individuals in various settings.
  • Proficiency with Canva, WordPress, social media management software, basic design & video editing software, Microsoft Office, and G-Suite apps.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly preferred.

  • Achievement of annual communications plan goals with efficient resource use.

This is a full-time, permanent position with a mix of in-office work, remote work, and working on-site at events. TreeFolks offers a competitive salary, plus health benefits, generous PTO, a flexible schedule, and a casual work environment. TreeFolks also provides opportunities for training, professional development, and advancement within the organization. The starting salary ranges from $48,000 to $52,000 based on experience, qualifications, and additional attributes, such as bilingual or firsthand knowledge of communities in which TreeFolks works.
