The Organisation

Intellectual Disability Rights Service (IDRS) is a statewide not-for-profit community legal centre and disability advocacy organisation that works alongside people with a disability in NSW to promote and protect their rights.

IDRS provides free disability advocacy and legal services for people with cognitive impairment and other disabilities through two service streams; the Ability Rights Centre (community legal centre) providing legal advice, advocacy and rights education, and the Justice Advocacy Service (JAS) that that supports people when they are in contact with the criminal justice system.

With a vision of equal rights and justice for people with disabilities, and the aim to make rights real for people living with cognitive and other disabilities, IDRS place the values of justice, respect and persistence at the heart of everything they do.

The Role

In this newly created position you will facilitate the streamlining and effective management of the organisation’s administrative requirements, as well as providing comprehensive administrative support to the CEO and executive team, ensuring the smooth operation of IDRS’s daily activities.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Management and coordination of office operations across the organisation
  • Assisting the CEO with the preparation of board papers and general executive assistance
  • Coordinating human resources functions such as recruitment, orientation and staff inductions
  • Coordination of technology and telecommunications systems support for staff
  • Office space and facilities support management

Skills Required

You have general office management experience ideally developed within a community, membership or non-profit organisation and the capability to undertake a broad range of duties. You’re able to work with a high level of self-direction and bring a good understanding of the processes, policies and procedures required for supporting a non-profit organisation, including employment, workplace safety and funder reporting.

Additionally you can demonstrate:

  • Excellent organisation skills and adaptability to manage competing priorities
  • A track record building and maintaining collaborative relationships a wide range of stakeholders
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Intermediate/Advanced skills in Office 365 and SharePoint and working knowledge of CRM systems
