An opportunity has opened for a Part-Time, Fixed Term Multicultural & Refugee Family Support Worker to deliver high quality case management support to families with children and young people in their care as part of IMS’s Targeted Earlier Intervention program.
Your qualifications in Community Services Work, Social Work or other human services discipline along with relevant experience in the community services sector will see you succeed in this rewarding role.
The role is a fixed term, part-time position based in Nowra working 21-23 hours per week. A competitive salary is on offer of SCHCADS Level 4, plus Super and Salary Packaging benefits as well as flexible working hours (days/times) for the right candidate.
Selection Criteria:
Essential:
- Tertiary qualification in Community Services, Social Work, Social Welfare or related discipline
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a role supporting vulnerable children, young people and families
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the impact of childhood trauma and abuse
- Knowledge and understanding of the issues faced by Refugee and CALD communities
- Demonstrated experience engaging with, assessing and supporting vulnerable families with complex issues using a strengths based, person centred and trauma informed approach
- Knowledge and understanding of the Child and Young Person’s (Care and Protection) Act and mandatory reporting requirements
- Ability to maintain timely records, administration and data keeping demands
- High level oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to liaise with and build positive relationships with other services and stakeholders at all levels of discipline
- Ability to work well as part of a team, both supervised and autonomously
- Proficient use of IT systems and processes including Microsoft, Outlook, internet and email applications
- Hold a valid Working with Children Check or ability to acquire one.
- Hold a current NSW Drivers Licence.
- Hold a National Police Clearance.
Desirable
- Bi-lingual/Multi-lingual skills in a community language is highly desirable however not essential.
