About the role

The Philanthropy and Fundraising Manager develops the fundraising strategy, leads the team, and manages board reporting and budgets.

They generate revenue from non-government donors, funders, and corporates, and oversee multi-channel fundraising campaigns, donor retention, and acquisition.

The role includes promoting fundraising activities, managing high-net-worth donor relationships, and developing strategies to grow and maintain donor support. This strategic and operational position requires thriving in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and achieve income targets across all fundraising disciplines, focusing on unrestricted income.
  • Implement and oversee the Fundraising Strategy and Operational Calendar, introducing new strategies and activities.
  • Manage key supporter areas: Trusts, Foundations, Corporates, Major Donors, Regular and Individual Giving, Community Fundraising, and Bequests.
  • Lead and manage the Philanthropy and Fundraising team of four direct reports, ensuring effective planning, delivery, and evaluation of all activities.
  • Maintain and develop the fundraising CRM database (SalesForce) for data capture and donor communications.
  • Provide financial reporting, forecasting, and updates to leadership and the board.
  • Ensure adherence to best practices, ethical policies, and legal standards.
  • Foster a collaborative team culture with leadership, mentoring, and performance management

Skills & Expertise:

  • Outstanding communication skills for varied audiences.
  • Strong relationship-building with stakeholders and partners.
  • Excellent organisational, planning, risk, and project management skills.
  • Proficient in financial management and budgeting.
  • Solid understanding of fundraising best practices and legal frameworks.
  • Effective use of CRM databases (Salesforce).
  • Exceptional research, negotiating, and people skills.
  • Adherence to organisational policies and equal opportunities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 5+ years in diverse fundraising roles, including corporate engagement and partnership management.
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding targets.
  • Experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Successful in developing fundraising strategies and managing databases.
  • Strong networking and relationship-building with corporates, trusts, and major donors.
