Your ROLE
First point of contact for people seeking access to specialist Domestic and Family Violence Supports and services, including crisis and transitional accommodation, case management and sustaining tenancy support.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure interactions with clients are culturally appropriate and consistent with trauma informed care practices.
- Conduct initial assessments in accordance with SHS Practice Guidelines.
- Maintain and update information in the Client Information System.
- Maintain privacy and confidentiality according to the Society’s Code of Conduct and Privacy policy and relevant legislation.
- Maintain a broad understanding of State and Federal government policies that have a direct impact on the delivery of services to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
- Maintain good relationships with other bodies that interact with the Society and its clients.
- Perform other duties within the scope of the role as may be requested.
- Participate in training workshops and ongoing professional development.
- Ensure that effective risk management protocols and procedures are in place to ensure compliance with legal, employment and governance requirements.
YOU WILL NEED:
- Minimum Certificate 4 in Community Services or higher-level qualifications in related discipline and/or relevant work experience in the homelessness/domestic and family violence sector
- Demonstrated experience in delivering culturally aware responses to people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
- Good written and oral communication skills, including good interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and independently.
- Good knowledge of, and an ability to access, a range of relevant community resources, particularly in the areas of drug and alcohol services, mental health, legal assistance, income support, employment service providers, training and accommodation, family assistance and permanent housing options.
- Understanding of contemporary domestic violence practice, including the gendered nature of violence and working with trauma.
- NSW driver licence.
- Demonstrated ability to use client databases and Microsoft Office packages such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
