The St. Martin Foundation (www.martinstiftung.ch) is a non-profit, federally recognised social welfare organisation. The project “Water is Life” has been improving the drinking water supply and living conditions in southern Cameroon since 1989. To date, over 1’910 drinking water wells have been constructed, providing water for around 450,000 people.
Your tasks
- Technical management of the “Water is Life” project in Otélé, Cameroon
- On-site management of around 40 local employees
- Responsible for the construction and maintenance of drinking water wells, the manufacture of well elements, the vehicle fleet, the water and electricity supply and building maintenance
- Organising and managing the training of well maintenance technicians
- Various interesting tasks in the area of administration and archiving
Skills required
Your profile
- Completed apprenticeship, preferably in the construction industry or agriculture (construction foreman/master farmer)
- Several years of experience in personnel management
- Experience in supervising apprentices is an advantage
- Assertiveness and negotiating skills. Ideally already involved in a development project
- Good knowledge of French and German
- Between 40 and 55 years of age. Living in a solid partnership. Your partner is willing to get involved in various fields of activity on site
- Both living in Switzerland for the past five years
- Open-minded and interested in other cultures. You have good social skills and can imagine living in a very rural environment, approx. 1 ½ hours from the capital Yaoundé
- Willingness to carry out development work in a West African country (4-5 years)
