Job Purpose
Provide confidential, neutral and independent support to employees when difficult situations arise at the workplace – such as disagreements, conflicts – and guide employees through the appropriate channels.
While maintaining confidentiality, accompany employees with their consent trough informal discussions, mediation to clarify, de-escalate and resolve conflicts in order to foster a positive culture and respectful workplace while at the same time ensuring an ethical behavior.
Key responsibilities
- Listen to and support staff who face a situation impacting their work; assess their situation and discuss different options with them; guide colleagues to appropriate channels for information.
- With the consent of the consulting staff member: facilitate and accompany them through informal discussions with other stakeholders, in particular line management and colleagues.
- Provide guidance and support to individual staff or teams involved in personal conflicts or disagreements; utilize mediation and/or individual meetings to clarify, de-escalate and resolve conflicts.
- Be a source of early assistance for staff with questions regarding a respectful workplace.
- Develop and deliver workshops and training sessions to promote safeguarding and mental health awareness; provide individuals with the tools and skills necessary for self-care, stress management, and emotional resilience.
- Intervene in case of a crisis, upon request of the Crisis Management Team.
- Provide an anonymous annual summary report for the Management Board and Safeguarding Manager on the types of issues that were raised by staff and propose improvements or solutions.
- Ensure neutral, confidential, impartial and independent services to all staff members while at the same time respecting the code of conduct and IRR’s and Swiss laws.
Qualifications and professional experience
- IPOT training or certification, and/or Diploma in psychology;
- Sound understanding of Swiss employment law
- Training or certification in mediation or conflict resolution;
- At least two years of professional experience as IPOT and/or professional coach, preferably in a not-for-profit or community-based setting.
Knowledge, skills and competencies
- Languages: English and French; other languages an asset;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary, multicultural team;
- Evidence of exemplary levels of discretion and integrity.
Contract information
- Services to be provided under a consultancy contract (initial contract period: 6 months with possibility to extend).
- Scope of engagement: 3 consecutive hours per week, on a weekday to be agreed between the parties; possibility for ad hoc extensions of the scope if circumstances require (e.g. staff outings, crisis meetings)
- Financial proposal based on an hourly rate; this rate is to include any expenses related to commuting to the GICHD offices and/or any work equipment used by the consultant.
