About Uniting:

We contribute to the work and mission of the Uniting Church in NSW and the ACT through social justice advocacy, community services and spiritual care. We provide care and support for people through all ages and stages of life, with a focus on people experiencing disadvantage and vulnerability. Our purpose is to inspire people, enliven communities and confront injustice.

Uniting leaders and employees work together to create a culture that is safe, inclusive and person-centred. We bring this to life every day through our values: compassionate, respectful, imaginative and bold.

Uniting acknowledges the continuing sovereignty and rich cultural diversity of Australia’s First Peoples. We pay our respects to all Elders – past, present, and emerging – and to all First Peoples on whose lands we live and work.

Uniting is a Child Safe Organisation committed to promoting the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of children and young people.

About the opportunity:

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of families at risk? Do you believe every child deserves a safe and loving home? At Uniting, we’re dedicated to inspiring change, enlivening communities, and confronting injustice—because we believe in taking real steps to make the world a better place.

As a Caseworker in our Intensive Family Preservation (IFP) team, you’ll be at the forefront of supporting families who are facing the risk of having their children removed into care or helping to restore children to their homes. Your role will involve providing intensive casework, crisis management, and long-term support using the Homebuilders® Model to help families overcome their challenges and create a stable, nurturing environment for their children.

  • Be a Beacon of Hope: Provide intensive casework to families with complex needs, ensuring the safety and well-being of children is always the top priority.
  • Empower Families: Help families develop and achieve child-focused goals that strengthen family bonds and promote safety.
  • Champion for Change: Assess and address crisis’, develop case plans, and work hand-in-hand with families to implement lasting solutions.
  • Collaborate and Integrate: Work seamlessly with other Uniting programs to deliver holistic, end-to-end support for the families you serve.
  • Embrace Diversity: Celebrate and respect the diverse backgrounds, cultures, and identities of the families and team members you work with.

We strongly encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates to apply, as your cultural knowledge and community connections are invaluable in supporting and empowering families in this role.

Your Qualifications & Experience

You’re not just looking for a job—you’re looking for a purpose. You have a strong commitment to keeping children safe and believe in the power of families to overcome challenges. You’re ready to bring your experience, your passion, and your dedication to a role where you can truly make a difference.

  • Qualifications and Experience: You hold a relevant bachelor’s degree in social sciences or equivalent and have at least 2 years of experience working with children and families. You’re organised, compassionate, and ready to engage families in crisis with innovative solutions.
  • Skills: You’re proficient in assessing risk, conducting family assessments, and working with a strength’s-based approach. You’re a team player with a strong understanding of child protection issues.
  • Values: You embody Uniting’s values in your work, approaching each day with a “can-do” attitude and a commitment to excellence.
