The Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) Vice Presidential Unit (VPU) enables the World Bank Group to achieve its mission of ending extreme poverty and boost shared prosperity on a livable planet by delivering transformative information and technologies to its staff working in over 150+ locations. Unit Context:
- WBG Finance (ITSFI) is responsible for providing high quality, streamlined information and technology solutions for the World Bank’s Financial & HR services, which include Human Resources, Corporate Finance, Risk Management, Controls, Treasury, Loans, Accounting, and Concessional finance (handling donor contributions from inception to the point of final disbursement, including IDA, Financial Intermediary Funds and Trust Funds). ITSFI is additionally responsible for building its IT services using a shared platform that provides scale, leverage, reliability, and control while at the same time improving responsiveness to emerging business needs. The ITSFI team is accountable for the implementation of the ITS Strategy supporting WBG core finance business processes.
- As a unit within the Finance ITS, ITSRA provides IT applications to support VPUs engaged in risk management activities throughout the WBG. This is a new position in ITSRA Washington D.C. to deliver IT solutions supporting internal and external client business functions for IBRD and IDA.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Act as Business Data Analyst with strong skills in the Capital Markets and Treasury domains.
- Demonstrate proven work experience within the MX.3 Murex financial system with expertise in the accounting module.
- Implement and support back-office activities in the MX.3 financial software in line with industry best practices and client needs.
- Coordinate the business requirements gathering while building consensus among the different client stakeholders. Develop and maintain a good client relationship.
- Provide added value to the requirements gathering by building on domain expertise and previous experience. Lead the analysis and documentation of those requirements. Catalogue business processes and workflows where needed.
- Maintain a comprehensive chronological trail of requirements and agreements. Document and manage actions and open points.
- Contribute to the design of the most efficient solution based on the requirements. Leverage rapid prototyping approaches to present as-is/to-be processes and rough designs of the proposed solution.
- Help in the implementation of the solution in Murex MX.3 following industry best practices.
- Design and execute test cases for application development and implementation projects, including unit testing, component testing and SIT.
- Log bugs/improvements and ensure Issue Management.
- Provide support in developing training material and conducting training.
- Prepare and perform presentations using MS PowerPoint and Visio to project stakeholders and management.
Selection Criteria
- Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science/Information Systems/Engineering, Finance or Accounting, with a minimum of 7 years relevant technical and business work experience if bachelor’s degree or 5 years if master’s degree.
Role Specific Experience and Abilities
- Experience in defining and implementing technology solutions for a major financial institution.
- Extensive experience as a Business Analyst for a large financial institution: gathering business requirements and developing functional specifications with special emphasis on use cases, defining test cases, and providing user training and support.
- Extensive experience in supporting and implementing Murex MX.3 with expertise in the accounting module.
- Business domain knowledge in: Capital Markets and Treasury, Plain and Structured Instruments (Interest Rate Derivatives/Fixed Income), full life cycle management, Accounting – Sub-Ledger Multi GAAPS/General Ledger Feeds and Reporting.
- Extensive experience with various system development lifecycle methodologies and tailoring the artifacts to those methodologies.
- Demonstrated experience with Unix, Linux, Windows, shell scripting, Oracle (SQL, PL/SQL).
- Experience in migration of back-office systems from Finastra Summit to Murex MX.3 is a big plus.
General BA skills/abilities
- Knowledge of business analysis best practices (such as BABOK) and ability to effectively apply them.
- Ability to identify data needs, quality rules and lineage then critically analyze requirements and ensure completeness from a quality requirements viewpoint.
- Willingness to challenge assumptions and rigorously debate ideas.
- Demonstration of strong process analysis skills and ability to suggest improvements for efficiency of solutions based on industry best practices.
- Ability to facilitate and navigate discussions with diverse team members often in multiple locations ensuring clarity, prioritization, and consensus.
- Experience in documenting requirements, managing actions and issues for development projects and support activities.
- Proactiveness and ability to provide creative, effective ways of overcoming project management and execution challenges.
- Ability to independently manage large, complex deliverables in an environment of shifting priorities. Willingness to seek advice and assistance when needed.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate well with all levels, technical as well as non-technical stakeholders. Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
