About the Integrated Therapeutic Community (ITC) team

The Integrated Therapeutic Community (ITC) is a model of Youth Residential Rehabilitation, supporting young people 16 – 25 years with significant mental health and complex support needs. Combining Box Hill South and Wantirna South services into an integrated therapeutic community, the service offers a therapeutic community model, and delivers individual recovery counselling and evidence informed group supports. The service acts as a 12 month stepping stone for young people aiming to support mental health recovery, build practical life skills and confidence for independent living. About the role

As part of the ITC team, your days will be varied and highly collaborative. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering direct support to clients with complex mental health needs through individualised support and recovery coordination
  • Collaborating with participants to achieve their recovery goals and engage with families, carers, and professionals
  • Implementing a range of evidence-informed psycho-social group supports
  • Assisting clients to develop daily living and self-management skills for independent living
  • Establishing and maintaining connections with relevant stakeholders and networks
  • Maintaining expertise in a key co-morbid social determinant of health
  • Contributing to program operations and meeting administrative requirements with precision
  • Supporting the provision of after-hours on-call services across our two Youth Residential Recovery programs

Please note: This role requires flexibility to work between 9:00am-7:30pm weekdays (staff take on an average of one to two 11:30am-7:30pm shifts per week). During evening/lone shifts support is available from EACH’s after hours on-call service.

About you

In addition to a self-directed passion and drive to support young people, you’ll have:

  • Experience working therapeutically with young people and families
  • An understanding of youth mental health, the impacts of trauma, homelessness, early school departure and family conflict
  • High emotional intelligence and the ability to tailor your work to meet the unique needs of young people
  • Demonstrated understanding of the context and systems associated with mental health and youth development
  • Understanding and sensitivity to the needs of LGBTQI and Aboriginal communities
  • Knowledge and experience in related fields such as AOD, family therapy, allied health, etc., is highly regarded

Qualifications

  • A tertiary qualification in social work or other relevant discipline/profession
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification
