The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of 9 months. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Amman, Jordan.

Your responsibilities

  • Partner Coordination: Manage relationships with partner organizations to ensure alignment and effective communication for emergency logistics support
  • Operational Oversight: Oversee logistics for deploying personnel and supplies in crisis zones, ensuring efficient and effective operations
  • Emergency Inventory Management: Supervise dynamic inventory systems for rapid deployment, coordinating with partners to maintain adequate stock levels
  • Crisis Transportation Coordination: Manage the logistics of transporting personnel and supplies, ensuring timely delivery and overcoming logistical challenges
  • Procurement in Crisis: Oversee urgent procurement processes, negotiate with suppliers, and ensure compliance with WHH standards
  • Training and Capacity Building: Develop and deliver training on emergency logistics, focusing on rapid response, security, and coordination
  • Documentation and Compliance: Ensure meticulous documentation of logistics activities to meet donor compliance requirements
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Work with local partners, NGOs, and international bodies to ensure a cohesive emergency response
  • Adaptability and Problem Solving: Adjust logistics plans to changing conditions and resolve unforeseen challenges in real-time
  • Field Visits: Assess logistics needs and optimize supply chains through direct field visits
  • Security Management: Collaborate with security teams to ensure safe logistics operations, including secure transportation routes and storage
  • Cultural and Contextual Awareness: Operate with cultural sensitivity, understanding local customs to facilitate smoother operations

Your profile

  • A University or College degree in Business Administartion, Supply chain and Logistics, Emergency Logistic Management, or a related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years in emergency logistics; experience in the Middle East is preferred
  • Deep cultural understanding and respect, with the ability to navigate and mediate cultural challenges
  • Ability to adapt to high-stress, dynamic environments
  • Strong leadership and crisis management abilities
  • Effective negotiation, coordination, and communication with various stakeholders
  • Willingness to receive necessary vaccinations for working in Welthungerhilfe’s Project countries
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in French or Arabic is advantageous
