St John of God Foundation works collaboratively across SJGHC to initiate, grow and steward relationships with key stakeholders that support SJGHC’s advancement in health, research and social outreach. To fulfil their mission, the Foundation oversees a range of activities including philanthropy, community engagement, capital fund development and donor programs for SJGHC nationally.
Impact of the opportunity
The Campaign Director, with support of campaign committees, and board members, and the Foundation team will lead this major comprehensive campaign for St John of God Richmond Hospital; a private mental health hospital providing comprehensive and holistic mental health care services in a setting of beauty and tranquillity.
Their vision is to expand on the heritage and expertise provided at Richmond Hospital and establish national research for psychological trauma education, research and collaboration, and satellite sites across Australia to provide a national platform for improving and delivering high quality treatment outcomes for first responders (defence, police, fire, rescue and others), in their local communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for overseeing the successful execution of the Campaign, with direct support from the Foundation CEO, agency, committees and board members
- Develop and implement effective strategies for engaging Donors/Funders, Board Members, Executives, and Volunteers participating in the Campaign
- Identify and mitigate Campaign risks, establishing the necessary systems, plans, and processes to secure strategic, ethical, and sustainable funding in alignment with the Campaign Plan
- Lead government relations efforts for the Campaign, offering expert guidance and support for interactions with federal, state, and local governments, particularly for key Board Members, Executives, and Volunteers involved in the Campaign
- Oversee the development of the Brand, Advertising, Public Advocacy, and Communications strategy for the Campaign in partnership with the SJGHC Senior Manager of Communications and Public Relations
- Provide high-level strategic advice, coaching, and support to the volunteer Campaign Chair/s and members of the Campaign Committees, motivating and guiding committee members to effectively execute the gift solicitation plan and strengthen philanthropic relationships to meet the campaign’s fundraising goals
- Exhibit leadership by contributing significantly to the Campaign’s objectives, managing a personal portfolio of prospective donors, and leading efforts to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward high-value gifts
- Motivate, inspire and lead the campaign team
- Oversee and track the annual campaign budget, with regular reporting to the Foundation Finance Analyst and CEO
- Regularly track and deliver updates to the Foundation CEO, Campaign Committees, and Board regarding the progress and outcomes of the campaign
Skills and Experience
- Significant experience in Philanthropy, with a proven track record of engaging with executives
- Demonstrated expertise in leading and influencing successful end-to-end campaigns or complex major gift projects within strategic oversight of plans, budgets, and financial targets
- A background in strategically leading on major gift programs with oversight of prospect planning, identification and relationship development, stewardship and the cultivation of high value gifts
- High level influencing and negotiation skills, with significant achievements in major gift fundraising or campaign outcomes
- Exceptional project management abilities, including the capacity to manage multiple projects and deadlines, while effectively solving complex challenges
- Highest levels of interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong ability to manage and nurture key relationships across a range of internal and external stakeholders
- The ability to inspire, coach, and motivate Campaign leadership and volunteers
- Strong business acumen and integrity, with a commitment to making professional and ethical decisions
- In-depth knowledge of current and emerging trends in philanthropy
- Willingness to travel both within and outside the state
- A commitment and ability to align with the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care
