A new Institutional Strategy is underpinned by six key enablers, all of which require good data management and reporting (operational and strategic). Student Operations is responsible for the student record – its management and quality – as well as the principal functions supporting the student lifecycle (e.g. exams, timetabling, curriculum information). The directorate is also responsible for student statutory reporting to external stakeholders (e.g. HESA, OfS, GMC). There is a close working relationship between Student Operations and SRS Education Services, as well as with the Office of the Vice-Provost (Education & Student Experience).About the roleThe University’s Education Strategy to 2027 has curriculum excellence at its heart and this role is pivotal to the sustainability of operational benefits. Managing the curriculum as a business service is crucial in delivering an excellent experience for our students, colleagues, and stakeholders and in maintaining compliance with internal and external regulations. The role is critical to delivering on a range of strategic initiatives including improved timetabling and curriculum review. The postholder will support the Director of Student Operations in establishing a new capability within SRS that directly adds value to SRS Education Services and faculty/departmental colleagues across the entire institution. The role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and currency of the University’s curriculum information. The role includes responsibility for Product Ownership of the institution’s new curriculum information management system. The postholder will be responsible for ensuring the system brings value to stakeholders and is kept fit for purpose. As a senior member of Student Operations, the postholder will contribute to the overall effectiveness of the directorate. You will have excellent communication and organisational skills with an approachable manner. You will be data savvy and familiar with the concepts of data governance and data protection. You will have a strong background in data handling and/or information management. You will be resilient in outlook and able to respond to the challenges of working in a complex and large institution with multiple levels of devolved authority. You will be a team player, able to take direction and lead from the front with a keen eye for detail and an appetite for delivering quality services and responding to feedback.
