Description

Founded in 1933, the International Rescue Committee (www.rescue.org) is a world leader in relief, rehabilitation, protection, post-conflict development, resettlement services and advocacy for those uprooted or affected by violent conflict and oppression. The IRC has long-term programs supporting conflict-affected persons in Iraq.       

Scope of Work:

Acts as a service provider and works closely with the Snr supply chain officer, the provider is specifically responsible for day-to-day tasks given to him by Snr supply chain officer to facilitate the efficient operation of the organization.

The provider will be paid a daily payment of 46,000 IQDs per day for their services. The Service provider is expected to work from 08:30 AM to 04:30 PM with half an hour lunch break, however, working start and end hour along with working days may change based on the need but not to exceed 40 hours each week. The contract will be based on monthly payments.

Major Responsibilities:

  • The safe and efficient transportation of IRC personnel and materials
  • The representation of IRC in a professional manner.
  • Strict adherence to the IRC’s vehicle policies and procedures, including the use of seatbelts by all passengers.
  • Maintaining the IRC’s vehicle clean, fueled and mechanically in good condition.
  • Daily and pre-long distance vehicle checks.
  • Accurate upkeep of the vehicle’s log sheet.
  • The Provider will be managed in his day-to-day activities by Snr SC officer.
  • The Provider must be respectful to IRC passengers, ensure passengers are provided with the maximum comfort levels possible (e.g., using heaters and A/C when appropriate), and abide by IRC’s Code of Conduct and general guidelines for vehicle usage provided by IRC.
  • Only IRC personnel, and/or other persons authorized by IRC, may be carried in vehicles while in service.
  • The provider will be compensated for food, per diem and accommodation will be made for him by IRC if stays overnight in other governorates for work purposes based on vehicle use policy.
  • Duty Station is Erbil with regular travel within Erbil and other governorates. 
  • Any other task given by supervisor.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

  • No road safety-related fines or convictions. Thorough knowledge of road rules and regulations
  • Skills in routine vehicle maintenance and minor repair
  • Knowledge (or ability to quickly learn) of HF, VHF and satellite communications equipment
  • Able to carry out limited, un-supervised tasks
  • Providers must display an attitude and behavior that reflects well on both them and the IRC.
  • Level high school education.
  • Valid driving license.
  • Able to pass IRC driving test.
  • Experience with INGO/LNGO.
  • No road safety-related fines or convictions.
  • Demonstration of local area (area of operation) knowledge
  • No road safety-related fines or convictions.
  • Language Skills: Kurdish, Arabic and English is advantage.
  • Minimum two years of work as a professional
  • Team spirit and problem-solving abilities.
